Aviation MRO: Separating CUI from a Busy Hangar Floor
- Challenge
- Large-footprint MRO operation handling both commercial and military airframe work, with CUI tech orders and controlled technical data stored on the same network as maintenance scheduling, parts, and general-office systems. A prior audit finding flagged uncontrolled CUI propagation through email and a shared parts-management system used by non-cleared staff.
- Outcome
- Architected a segmented network with a dedicated CUI enclave for military-line engineering and tech orders, isolated from commercial operations. Stood up a GCC High tenancy for CUI email/collaboration, implemented device-level data-loss prevention, and trained hangar supervisors on CUI marking so the controls held up when engineering changes landed at 3 AM.
